He’s gone, and in my eyes he was a legend. But never more so than for the heartfelt donation to the Hillsborough families and for joining in so whole heartedly with this celebration of One Night In Istanbul – a play that remembers LFC’s 5th European Cup win:
I love that people think that the writers of this show owed them something – hey – you were watching TV and they wrote a great show that kept you captivated for 6 years and entertained you. All these writers had to do was tell you the story they always wanted to tell you, if in the end you decide you don’t like it – tough!
I for one thought it was great – I’m glad not ALL the answers were there, most of the love I had for the show was talking about it and what my theories were, and guess what – I can still do that now with the show being over!
The cast of Lost
It became clear to the writers after the first couple of series that there wouldn’t be a neat clean up, thus deciding to put an end date on the show, so how was it not obvious to everyone else.
I do get though that the writers were pissed that most people guessed the afterlife theme very early on and tried their best to throw a load of red herrings in there – c’est la vie!
Still LOST, and still loving it!
It’s always a worry when a band loses not just a key member, but one of it’s creative forces. When Barenaked Ladies announced that they would progress as a 4 piece following the departure of Steve Page I was gutted, some things should come to a natural end, I thought.
I’m also glad to have been proved wrong, on the strength of this track, and a great new video it seems the undressed ones have taken their time and I for one will be happy to get the album when it’s released over here (UK&Ireland). Check out the video below. Now all we need is a European tour to match the major US and Canadian ones!
Pick’n'mix – we were discussing this at work today, techniques for getting the most sweeties for your money, the obvious one being staying away from the fudge. Delicious as it is, it’s heavy – and with picn’n'mix heavy = expensive!
My own personal favourite used to be the woolies cup fill p’n'm. Basically £1.99 and you could take as many sweets as you could fit into a cup and fit a lid on. I had a technique as well. First you should get the small dolly mixtures and put some to the bottom, half fill the cup with slightly larger sweeties, (here’s the important part) then a couple of mall scoops of the smaller sweeties and give the cup a good shake, thus allowing them to fall fown the cracks between the larger ones. I’ve seen far too many people walk to the checkout with a cup full of air – what a waste (or is that waist) 
Woolies Pick'n'mix
One would repeat this process until the cup was full to the brim and just be able to fit the lid on!
Well good news folks – Woolies pick’n'mix is back!! Well an online version which sends the sweeties to your house. OK so it’s not the same, you can’t sneakily nibble on a sweet as you fill your bag (not that anyone ever would!) but the age old institution of mixing up sweeties is back again! It’s even got sound effects! I’m a bit disappointed that there are no foam bananas but it’s great craic even if you’re not buying.
It's wrong - just wrong
Of course if you’re nostalgic for sweeties from your childhood – chocolate foil cups perhaps, or maybe even golden nuggets – what about chocolate cigarettes (try getting them passed now!) A Quarter of dot com is the place to go – you’ll be amazed at the old time sugar mountain they have available!
All that said – this is wrong – just wrong! Sherbet Fountain should be in a paper pack not these newfangles paper ones.
