Shopping just got cheaper

As you probably know by now, if you know  me at all - I’m a real skint flint, always looking for a bargain!  Well, I’ve found many, many bargains and it’s like getting paid to shop!  It’s totally legit and I’ve made (saved) over £300 from sites like these!

My previous favourite was always rPoints, and for the whole part they’ve been good - the idea is that they have affiliate links to online shops and they split their commission with you - sometimes generously, sometimes keeping the bigger part to themselves. (eg - when I bought my Home Insurance - I shopped around looking for the best price and still got £70 cashback)

CashbackKings.comThey’ve launched a new website called Cashback Kings where they claim to give you 100% of the commission (apart from the first £5 you “earn”).  The same insurance deal would have gotten me £100 cashback!  So they’re worth a try - you can get the money sent staight to your bank account (which I’ve done - it’s safe) - or you can get amazon vouchers for the value of your cashback.  Not bad!

Happy New Year…

Wanting to wish all of our friends and family a happy new year and may 2008 bring everything you wish from it.

Just a quick story from Christmas day - Santa (being the smart guy that he is) left Katie a stocking in the kitchen (ensuring she would eat her breakfast and not get TOO excited) and there were a couple of small gifts in the stocking, nothing to get too excited about) and she was so engrossed in these “small gifts” that when she entered the living room it took her a while to see the bike and other things Santa had left for her… here watch…

Who gets it wrong Parents or the BBFC?

Arrgghhh!  Another “Am I Getting Old?” moment!  As if it’s not enough that when I’m supervising our youth centre’s disco’s I’m wondering around thinking that the music’s too load (if you’d call the “noise” they put out there these days music) I recently had another old foggie moment at a recent trip to the cinema!

12AFor those of you who haven’t heard of the changes made to film classification here - 12a now puts the discretion into the parents hands - if a film gets a 12a rating then you can still bring your babies under twelve - it’s just up to you!

I went last week to see the new CGI superfest that is Beowolf - and as legend would have it there’s a lot of nude monster fighting and wench raping that goes on in the world of a 12a film these days.  I wondered at the marvels of modern technology as I watched the CG Ray Winstone looking more BUFF than I’m sure he ever has in his life and thought that with the right computer wizardry how Sir Anthony Hopkins would make a great Dungeon Master if they ever did a movie of the cartoon Dungeons & Dragons - but I was more taken by the seriously close up nudity they got away with in the name of CGI - and the blood that spilled when the bodies of the hero’s army were torn apart, isn’t real blood so the usual 15 cert that this film, if in live action would be a certainty to acheive, shouldn’t apply!  The fact is they’ve tried to make it look as realistic as possible - surely this should be taken into account!

Then - a moment of clarity.  Maybe the BBFC are right - maybe it should be up to the parents - after seeing some children, granted who were much younger than 12, being guided out of the cinema by their parents  though I’m not sure that “guidance” is enough.

Maybe I’m just getting old.
